Our Programmes — 2025 Season

Three Ways to Engage with Retirement Reading

Each programme is built around publicly available reference material, guided discussion, and editorial judgement. No personal advice. No sales pitch. Just clear, well-organised reading on Malaysian retirement preparation.

Our Approach

How the Team Prepares Each Programme

The process behind every workshop session and reading plan follows the same three stages — regardless of which programme a participant chooses.

01

Source Selection

The team draws from publicly available books, government publications, EPF and PRS reference documents, and reputable Malaysian financial commentary. Each source is reviewed for accuracy before inclusion.

02

Annotation

Selected sources are annotated by the team to flag the most useful passages, define unfamiliar terms, and note where material applies specifically to Malaysian residents. Annotations appear in printed handouts and bibliographies.

03

Discussion

Reading in isolation only goes so far. Every programme builds in structured discussion — either at quarterly workshops or in monthly one-on-one calls — so participants can raise questions and work through the material with the team.

Programme One

Public Workshop Season Ticket

RM 540  /  annual season

A season ticket to the team's quarterly workshop series. The series covers four broad topics across a year: the architecture of Malaysian retirement records, household inventory and document organisation, family conversation planning, and reading references for the year ahead. Each workshop is presented by the team and includes a printed handout. The series is educational and does not provide individual advice.

Season ticket holders receive a small library of reference books selected each year. Suitable for adults in mid-career through to early retirement. Refunds and substitutions are handled by direct conversation with the team.

Format

Four quarterly in-person sessions per year

Group Size

8–15 participants per session

Materials

Printed handout and annual reference book selection

Location

Wisma KFC, Suite 17-3, Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL

The four workshop topics

  • Session 1 — Malaysian Retirement Records: An overview of EPF account structures, PRS, pension scheme records for civil servants, and how to read a statement of account.
  • Session 2 — Household Documents: Practical guidance on organising property documents, insurance schedules, wills, and household inventory records for a smoother transition at retirement.
  • Session 3 — Family Conversations: A reading-based session on how families in Malaysia approach later-life transitions, drawing on published case studies and commentary.
  • Session 4 — Reading List for the Year Ahead: The team presents an annotated selection of books and articles for participants to read independently over the coming twelve months.

Programme Two

Custom Reading Programme Subscription

RM 1,920  /  six months

A six-month reading programme tailored to the participant's interests within retirement preparation. The team interviews the participant, prepares a reading plan drawn from publicly available books and articles, and schedules a monthly call to discuss the readings.

The programme builds general literacy on the topic; specific personal questions remain the province of qualified professionals the participant engages independently. Suitable for adults who learn through reading and discussion.

Includes a printed annotated bibliography at the start and a written reflection at the end of the six months.

How the six months unfold

  1. Week 1 Intake interview. A one-hour conversation — in person or by video call — to understand your interests, current knowledge, and the topics you would most like to explore over the coming months.
  2. Week 2 Reading plan delivered. A printed annotated bibliography arrives by post, listing the selected books and articles in the recommended reading order, with notes on what to look for in each.
  3. Months 1–5 Monthly discussion calls. A structured 45-minute call each month to discuss the previous month's reading, answer questions about the material, and introduce the next set of texts.
  4. Month 6 Written reflection delivered. The team produces a short written summary of the topics covered, the participant's observations across the calls, and suggested next steps for continued independent reading.

Programme Three

Library Sponsorship & Private Sessions

RM 2,880  /  annual sponsorship

An annual sponsorship that supports the team's public reading library and includes private sessions with the team. The sponsor receives six private one-on-one sessions across the year on topics chosen from the team's workshop catalogue, along with the year's reading list and the season ticket to the public workshops.

The sponsorship supports the team's open reading library, which is freely available to members of the public during opening hours. Suitable for adults who value extended educational support across a year. Sessions are scheduled at the sponsor's preferred pace.

What the sponsorship includes

  • Six private one-on-one sessions — topics drawn from the workshop catalogue, scheduled at the sponsor's preferred pace across the year.
  • Full season ticket — access to all four quarterly public workshops for the year.
  • Annual reading list — the team's curated selection of books and reference articles for the year, with annotations.
  • Library sponsorship credit — your support contributes directly to maintaining the public reading library, which remains open to all visitors without charge.
  • Flexible scheduling — private sessions can be in person at the reading room, or by video call for sponsors outside Kuala Lumpur.
