Why Goldlatitude

What the Reading Room Offers

An unhurried place to build knowledge at your own pace — with editorial standards and real reference materials.

Curated Reference Library

All materials are drawn from publicly available books, government publications, and reputable Malaysian financial commentary — annotated by the team for clarity and relevance.

Small-Group Workshops

Sessions are kept small so participants can ask questions and follow the material at a comfortable pace. No sales pitches, no product demonstrations.

Malaysian Context Throughout

All workshop topics are rooted in Malaysian retirement structures — EPF, PRS, common property and household documentation practices relevant to residents of Malaysia.

Unhurried Pace

Programmes are designed around the rhythms of working adults. No rushing through dense material; instead, a steady reading schedule spread over months.

Open Public Library

Our ground-floor reading library is open to members of the public during operating hours — no registration required to browse or borrow reference copies.

Discussion-Based Learning

Reading without conversation only goes so far. Monthly calls and workshop Q&A sessions create space for participants to work through what they have read with real people.

Common Questions

Questions About the Library & Workshops

What topics do the workshops actually cover? +
The quarterly series rotates through four broad areas: the architecture of Malaysian retirement records (EPF, PRS, pension structures), household inventory and document organisation, family conversation planning around later-life transitions, and reading references for the year ahead. Each session is self-contained, so you can attend individual workshops or the full season.
Is this financial or legal advice? +
No. Goldlatitude's programmes are entirely educational and informational. The team presents publicly available material, facilitates discussion, and prepares reading lists. Participants who need specific guidance on their own financial or legal matters should engage qualified independent professionals.
How large are the workshop groups? +
Sessions are kept small — typically between eight and fifteen participants. This keeps the atmosphere more like a reading circle than a lecture hall. Questions are welcomed throughout each session.
What is the cancellation and substitution policy? +
Cancellations and substitutions are handled by direct conversation with the team. We prefer to find a workable solution rather than apply a rigid policy. If you cannot attend a scheduled session, contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you in a future date.
Can I visit the reading library without booking a programme? +
Yes. The open reading library at our Jalan Sultan Ismail premises is available to members of the public during opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–5pm) at no charge. Reference copies of all workshop materials are available to browse. Borrowing arrangements for certain publications can be discussed with the team in person.
Is the Custom Reading Programme available remotely? +
The monthly discussion calls within the reading programme can be conducted via video call, so participants do not need to be based in Kuala Lumpur. The initial interview and final reflection session can also be arranged remotely. Printed materials are posted to your address within Malaysia.
What do I need to bring to a workshop? +
Just yourself and an open mind. A printed handout is provided at every session. If there is pre-reading for a particular session (typically one short article or a few pages), we send it to registered participants by email at least one week in advance. No prior knowledge of finance or retirement planning is needed to participate.
